Crane Accident: Grand Rapids, Mich.

February 2012–Western Michigan authorities had to transfer inmates from Kent County jail to other correctional facilities when a lattice-boom crane collapse damaged a large part of the jail complex. Investigators believe a crane cable snapped, and part of the boom smashed against an area of the complex under construction, while another part tumbled backward into a maintenance building.
