Crane Accident: Calgary, Alberta
April 2013—A traffic accident between two tractor-trailer trucks that were working together to haul a crane killed one of the drivers. One truck was hauling the rubber-tired, telescopic-boom rough-terrain crane, while the second truck was helping push the first truck. As the trucks made a turn, one of the chains holding the crane to the truck shifted, causing the crane to tip over onto the road. A police officer said that when the crane rolled, the push truck ran under the back of the first truck’s trailer, killing the push truck’s driver. The crash shut down Calgary’s main freeway for most of the day. – www.huffingtonpost.ca
