The AC 140 is equipped with 17,650 pounds of counterweight carried on the crane, giving just 26,450-pound axle load. The 10 x 8 steering system features ZF dual-circuit semi-block mechanical steering with hydraulic booster and mechanical steering limiter; speed-dependent steering for increased maneuverability and drive stability; and independent rear axles steering provided by the fourth and fifth axles.
The 196-foot five-section main boom can be equipped with an optional 55.8- to 108.3-foot boom extension. The hoist features a fixed displacement axial piston hydraulic motor, hoist drum with integrated planetary gear reducer, and spring-applied multi-disk brake. The slewing unit is powered by a hydraulic motor with planetary gear reducer and is equipped with a pedal-operated brake, joystick-actuated free swing, and spring-applied holding brake.

Demag AC 140
The crane cab, which can be tilted back 18°, features a sprung and hydraulically damped operator's seat with head and arm rests. A self-contained hot water heater with timer provides heat flow control. Air conditioning is standard.
