July 21, 2004 -Favelle Favco USA, Harlingen, Texas, has delivered the first new Favco Model 60T telescopic boom crawler crane to Bernard Construction Company for work on its Saluda Dam remediation project located outside of Columbia , S.C. It is the largest active dam construction project in the United States.

The 60T with 60-ton capacity and a 4-section, 105-ft. boom tip height is built on a Caterpillar Model 325 excavator power module. The crane is powered by a quad turbocharged 168-hp CAT diesel engine with an automatic engine control and electronic power unit control with back-up system.

A joystick controls swing, boom elevation, telescope main hoist and auxiliary hoists. Foot controls are used for the travel functions. A push button on the joystick extends or retracts the machine's tracks from 9'9”. in the stowed configuration to 14'7” at full width.

In the working mode, the crane weighs 117,000 pounds.; but for transporting, the weight can be reduced to less than 100,000 pounds. The standard winch uses a 2-speed motor with a 16,610-pound maximum line pull holding 656 feet of line.

Among the options is a 33- to 57.4-foot offsetable telescopic lattice boom extension that increases overall tip height to more than 172 feet.
