November 2, 2005 — Bronto Skylift's S200XDT truck-mounted aerial lift made its first public U.S. appearance at ICUEE. Featuring a 200-foot platform height, a horizontal outreach of 100 feet, and a platform capacity of 1,400 pounds, the S200XDT aerial lift on display at ICUEE is owned by Hinkel Equipment Rental, Huntingdon Valley, Pa., which was the second unit delivered in North America.

One unique feature incorporated in the S200XDT's design is its “short-jacking” option in which the outriggers are fully deployed on all sides but only fully extended on one side, reducing the overall working width of the machine. The outriggers can be set in seven different positions, and the unit maintains a separate work envelope for each outrigger. The boom is designed to telescope into position as it is extended, and with the addition of the turntable's 360° continuous rotation, the S200XDT has the ability to be precisely positioned to save workspace.

Monitoring the outrigger settings, platform, and turntable is the Bronto +3 advanced control system. The +3 automatically keeps the platform within safe operating parameters even if the outriggers are short-jacked. It also oversees axle lock, automatic outrigger deployment, and leveling status. If the outriggers are not positioned correctly or there is zero ground pressure on an outrigger, alarms are triggered to warn the operator. A single control button activates the outriggers and leveling system, which can be positioned in less than a minute.

Differences between the +3 control system and previous Bronto controls include less computer components, color display, outrigger sensor for operator, and more service information. The control can save configuration preferences for up to five different operators, and the system is programmed in eight different languages.
