Bigge Rents Cranes to Erect Power Plant

September 15, 2004 • Bigge Crane & Rigging Co., San Leandro, Calif., recently supplied Fru-Con Construction Corp. with operated and bare rental cranes to erect a twin unit, combined cycle power plant at the Sacramento Municipal Utility District's Cosumnes Power Plant in Rancho Seco, Calif. Bigge's cranes and transportation equipment will be used to set HRSG casings, tube bundles, and steam drums.

 

The scope of Bigge's work on the project includes offloading 42 pieces of HRSG and power generating components from a train and transporting it to a 500-ton Manitowoc 2250 crawler crane for erection. In addition, Bigge has transported and set the two combustion turbines and two combustion turbine generators, and it has received, transported, and set the steam turbine, the steam turbine generator, the condenser, and the three main transformers.

 

Cranes that Bigge used on the project included a 500-ton Manitowoc crawler with a Maxer 2000 attachment, a 300-ton Manitowoc M250 crawler, a 230-ton Manitowoc 888 crawler, a 100-ton and 250-ton Link-Belt truck cranes, a Terex 55-ton RT555, a Terex 75-ton RT175, and Terex 90-ton RT190, and a Grove 65-ton RT865.
