October 19, 2005 — After introducing the Bendini RT 440B and RT 660B rough terrain cranes to the U.S. market in September, Terex Cranes, Wilmington, N.C., recently took the opportunity to celebrate its first machine delivery. Ray Anthony International, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., has stepped up to the plate, committing to purchase the first 12 of the Italian-produced products.
On display at the open house, held October 8, were one each of the two RT models. These units, produced in Terex's Crespellano plant in Italy, will be brought to the states fully loaded with standard options such as auxiliary winch, cab air conditioner, and jibs.
Terex Cranes President and CEO Steve Filipov was on hand to deliver the very first unit to Ray Anthony, president and CEO of Anthony International. “Our sales and service staff have been spending a lot of time in Italy training and familiarizing themselves with these products,” said Filipov, sharing that Terex has taken great steps to prepare for this introduction to North America. He also added that the company had made sure parts would not be a problem. “We have brought into Wilmington over $250,000 in parts for each new model we have introduced,” he said.
In addition to the RTs, Terex Cranes plans to launch 40- and 60-ton variations of the Bendini RT line mounted on a crawler chassis to the North American market. In fact, the company recently unveiled a 44-ton machine at SAIE in Bologna, Italy, last week and received very positive feedback. According to Craig Lichty, senior vice president of business development, Terex is currently testing the machines to be available in the second quarter of 2006.
