March 9, 2005—AmQuip, Bensalem, Pa., has appointed Dennis Bates as vice president of the company's Tower Crane Division. Bates has more than 30 years experience, including 10 years as equipment manager for Brasfield & Gorrie, and sales background for American Pecco, Morrow Equipment, Noell / Preussag Group, and a national crane rental company.

AmQuip entered the tower crane market in 2002, and in 2004 added about 20 units to its existing tower crane fleet with the acquisition of East Coast Hoist's tower crane division. The fleet now consists of Potain and Peiner cranes, ranging in size from the 15 ton MDT302 up to the 30 ton SK575. Some of these cranes are currently on job sites in Florida, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Ohio, Washington D.C., Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

In other news, AmQuip has opened a 12-acre facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
